St. Pat's High School Gym Renovation

Innovative Construction Services completed a comprehensive gymnasium upgrade project at St. Patrick’s High School in Sarnia, Ontario for the St. Clair Catholic District School Board. The project focused on improving the functionality, appearance, safety, and overall experience of the school’s athletic and assembly space.

The scope of work included the installation of a new retractable stage, giving the school greater flexibility for assemblies, performances, presentations, and athletic events. This addition allows the gymnasium to serve as a true multi-purpose space while preserving usable floor area when the stage is not required.

A major component of the project was the installation of new telescopic gymnasium seating. The seating system included multi-tiered rows of seats, deck components, risers, and an interconnected retractable support structure. This upgrade provides students, staff, families, and visitors with improved seating for sporting events, school functions, and community gatherings.

To support student athletics and improve the overall gym environment, the project also included new wall padding, a new scoreboard, and upgraded basketball equipment complete with backstop assemblies. These improvements helped modernize the space while supporting safer and more functional use during physical education classes, team practices, and games.

The visual impact of the gymnasium was also an important part of the upgrade. Innovative Construction Services completed painting throughout the space, including the school logo on the gym walls and above the new stage. The walls were refreshed with new paint, helping create a clean, updated, and school-spirited environment.

Additional improvements included the installation of new lockers and a buff and coat of the gymnasium floor, restoring the playing surface and giving the completed space a polished finish.

The project was completed over a four-month period, with Innovative Construction Services coordinating multiple trades and project phases to deliver a finished gymnasium that better serves the needs of students, staff, athletes, and the broader school community.
